Tulip Valley Winery is family owned and operated. We are located in the heart of Skagit Valley where we produce Tulip Valley hand crafted red and white table wines from estate grown grapes in, " Abberin Vineyard," near Sunnyside, WA, and home to the traditional artesian Burro Loco Ciders made from locally grown apples.
We officially opened our tasting room in 2002 in the 1920's gothic roofed dairy barn off state route 536. Surrounded by three acres of estate grown Pinot Noir grapes, apple orchards with english and french cider apples (over nine varieties). With the view of Mount Baker behind you, we offer an escape from your normal day to day routine. We encourage you to bring a picnic basket!
Our grapes are mainly grown in our estate vineyards in the Columbia Valley of Eastern Washington, but the grapes and apples are all crushed and made into our wines and hard ciders right here in our backyard. Our wines and hard ciders have won numerous awards and we are featured in many local restaurants. The best part, you can taste our products right there on site and gaze at the big open skies, and the majestic mountains in the Skagit Valley, the place we call home.
Visit our space during the annual Tulip Festival for breathtaking helicopter rides, local art shows, and other local vendors.
About the Owners/Wine Makers
Ector retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army and three tours. After returning home he learned the land next to his house had been sold to Carl whom he met soon after. Upon learning he was planning to make the old dairy barn into a winery & cidery he asked if he could be of any help and Carl agreed to let Ector aid in building the tasting room and vineyard. Next Ector asked if he could help in making some of the hard ciders and wines, even though with no education in this area, he quickly learned that he had knack for it. His English cider, Burro Loco Cider, took best in show in the World Cider Competition in 2007. This was the first time someone brought this award to the state of Washington, and the rest is history.
Not soon after Carl realized he was working with his future business partner and the two joined hands in creating a business together inspired by Skagit Valley and the famous tulips that grace the land every Spring.
They have been making wine and hard cider together since 2002 and have won numerous awards for their craft and have been featured in magazines, restaurants, and local news. Soon enough their small dream has turned into an iconic tourist attraction year round, where customers always feel welcomed as soon as they enter the barn and they can taste for themselves the difference in hand made wines and ciders made right in the barn's backyard.
Ector's wife and kids have also contributed to the winery's business over the years. Shanna manages the tasting room and outside tasting events and is a familiar face to regular customers. Marisa manages the social marketing and website, Isabelle occasionally works in the tasting room, and James works on the overall maintenance of the winery anywhere from keeping the grounds beautiful to welding broken equipment.
Together the DeLeon family has created the perfect getaway location for any family to enjoy in Skagit Valley!
